Why Was VENTICAST™ Created?

Traditional plaster-of-paris casts have been the standard of fracture care for decades — but they come with well-known drawbacks: moisture build-up, skin maceration, itching, and heavy discomfort for patients, especially in India's tropical climate.

VENTICAST™ was born from a mission to solve these problems without compromising immobilisation quality — giving orthopaedic surgeons a modern tool they can trust, and patients a healing experience they can actually live with.

FAQ Masterclass

Small details make a big difference. Master every nuance of VENTICAST™ application with our expert FAQ video series.

Measure the circumference at the widest point of the cast site. Use the sizing chart provided in the packaging. When in doubt, select the larger size — VENTICAST™ is mouldable and can be trimmed for a precise fit.
Use standard cast scissors or a cast saw. VENTICAST™'s medical-grade polyester mesh cuts cleanly without fraying. Always smooth cut edges with a cast file or tape to prevent patient discomfort.
Mark the thumb position before application. Use cast scissors to create a clean oval opening. The thumb opening should allow free movement without compromising the integrity of the cast structure around the wrist.
Scaphoid casts require the thumb to be incorporated in a specific position. Apply VENTICAST™ in slight radial deviation with the thumb in opposition. Ensure the metacarpophalangeal joint is included for proper immobilisation.
The Doughnut Roll technique uses a circular roll of padding around bony prominences to prevent pressure sores. Apply before VENTICAST™ to ensure even pressure distribution, particularly at the malleoli and radial styloid.
VENTICAST™ is water-resistant. Brief exposure to water is tolerated, but prolonged submersion is not recommended. Always ensure the cast is thoroughly air-dried after any moisture exposure to maintain structural integrity.
Apply gentle moulding pressure with the palm of the hand during the setting phase. Avoid using fingertips which can create pressure points. Work from proximal to distal and hold the contour until the material sets fully.
Wrinkles occur when the cast isn't smoothed during application. Apply with an even, helical technique and smooth after each pass. If wrinkles form, gently stretch and re-smooth before the material fully sets.
Fold the stockinette back over the distal and proximal ends to create a clean rolled edge. Smooth all surface irregularities with a dampened gloved hand. A premium finish improves patient confidence and clinic presentation.
Use a standard cast saw with an oscillating blade. Cut along the medial and lateral surfaces. VENTICAST™'s mesh structure is compatible with standard cast removal equipment. Always protect the skin with a cast spreader.
VENTICAST™ is contraindicated in open fractures with active wounds, severe oedematous limbs, known hypersensitivity to polyester materials, and in situations requiring post-operative wound access. Always conduct a patient assessment prior to application.
Apply the stockinette longer than needed on both ends, then fold the excess back over the cast edges once VENTICAST™ is applied and press it into the still-setting material to lock it in place. A snug padding layer in between also helps keep it from shifting during application.

A Message From Our Founder

A Vision for Better Fracture Care

The idea for VENTICAST™ came from a simple but powerful observation: patients were suffering unnecessarily. Traditional casting worked — but the experience was unnecessarily difficult, particularly in our climate.

We set out to build something different. A casting system that preserved every advantage of rigid immobilisation, while addressing every comfort complaint patients had been living with for decades.

The result is VENTICAST™ — developed with India's orthopaedic surgeons, tested in India's hospitals, and built for India's patients. We're proud of what we've created, and even prouder of the outcomes we're seeing every day across 500+ hospitals nationwide.
